Sweet Friday. Vans Shoe Cake

Sweet Friday
Vans Inspired Shoe Cake
by Raychel Kennedy

This cake was for my nephew's baby shower a few weeks ago.

I wanted to make something simple and sweet but with style. My sister-in-law always buys Vans Shoes for the kids, so I had to make the new baby his very own Vans.

Just for you Logan James Caudill. I can not wait to meet you! Aunt Shelly LOVES you to death already :D

Around the cake I put everything special a bout a baby. I put the words Giggles, Baby!, Love, Happiness, Joy, Pride, Kisses, and Hugs.

Sweet Friday. High Heel Rose Cake

Sweet Friday
High Heel Rose Cake
By Raychel Kennedy

This cake was made for a birthday lady and it's simple but sweet.

I love how the open toe high heel shoe came out. The high heel was 2 inches tall. I would have made it higher, but I made the heel last minute and didn't want to risk it.

The hearts was made from my Cricut Cake Machine and the roses I made from fondant and gumpaste.

This was the frist time I EVER made roses and I am soooo happy with them. I made them by hand with no tools. Just my fingers and a ball of fondant/gumpaste.

One day they will be better, but I think they are pretty cute for the first time.

Hope you have a Sweet Friday!

What are your plans this weekend?

I am working on a babyshower cake for a boy. They said to do whatever I wanted, but do not use any blues. Do you have any advice or tips I could do?

Guest Blog, Giovanna from Giovanna's Cakes

Hello everyone.
I am Giovanna from Giovanna's cakes and at Raychel's request I am here as a guest blogger.
She has asked me to do a tutorial for you, her readers, and since my daughter's birthday is coming up I decided to show you how to make a candy topiary. Mine is going to go on a candy/sweets table that I'll be setting up for her party, but you can use it as a table centerpiece as well.
This is what you need:

candy, toothpicks, floral cone shaped sponge, aluminum foil, vase

You start by covering up your sponge cone with aluminum foil.
This way the candy does not get contaminated and can be safely eaten by the kids.

Next you push a toothpick into your candy

and then you press them into your cone starting at the bottom.

And you keep adding till you climb your way up to the top:)

finished product! I chose to work with two colors but you can do what ever you please. Have fun making them. They are really easy to make.
I hope you enjoyed my photo tutorial.
