Cake Sketch

Zebra Cake Sketch

I've been making cakes for almost 6 years and I'm just starting to sketch them out before creating the real thing. I do not know if you do this when you are thinking of a cake creation, but it is a helpful idea.

Before, I would create as I was decorating. Sometimes it would get stressful, because I had no direction. The cakes would still came out cute, but I stressed myself out while doing it.

Now, the last 10 or so cakes I have been creating a sketch before I start to work and I love doing so. It's another creative outlet (even if I can't draw) and it helps me to have some sort of detail direction.

The sketch above is what I invision for Madison's 6th Birthday Cake. The black bow and pink flowers will be ruffley (if that's a word), and the second teir will be a quilting pattern with edible silver pearls. She wants a 'Zebra Diva Party' and I'm having a BLAST creating it :)

Any ideas? I would love to hear some of your ideas for a zebra party! I have lots of ideas that I can not wait to share with you.
