3D Lightning McQueen cake

Disney 3D Cars Cake

You may remember this Lightning McQueen Cake I made a few years ago. I was asked to make another one for a little boy turning one. I also made some matching cupcakes :)

For the cake I used a 9 x13" cake pan and a 8x8" cake pan. The last cake I made the tires looked flat, so this time I made the tires out of rice krispy treats covered in fondant. They came out so much better this time around.

Check out the Cars Cupcakes I made...
For the sand I used plain white sugar and mixed some brown wilton's food coloring in it.

I hope you're having a Sweet Friday!! Are you doing anything fun this weekend?
Next Sweet Friday stop by to see the American Flag Cake I made for an 80th Birthday Party :)

Scroll & Swirls Wedding Cake

3 Tier Scroll & Swirls Wedding Cake

If you know me, you know I'm anti-buttercream. I can work with buttercream in small amounts, but when it comes to stacked cakes I just feel over-whelmed and I start to stress out. A friend asked me to make a 3 tier buttercream wedding cake with piping scrolls & swirls and I agreed. Can you beleive that I agreed? I still can't lol. I swear people can talk me into anything, but I'm very happy with the results of this cake.

This cake is a 4", 6", and 8" cake covered in a crusting buttercream icing. The top and bottom tier has scrolls and the middle tier has swirls. Sorry my camera's flash makes it hard to see. The roses are silk roses and the ribbon is satin.

So what's going on with you this weekend? Are you doing anything fun?

I hope you can swing back by next Sweet Friday to see the 3D lightening McQueen cake I made with matching cupcakes. I LOVE THE CUPCAKES :)

Vintage Inspired Necklace

So I came across these beads at my local craft store. They are actually vase fillers, but since they had a hole going through them I thought it would look perfect as a Vintage Inspired Necklace.

DIY Vintage Style Necklace:
Ivory Beads
Shoe String Elastic
Ivory Satin Ribbon
Scissors
Lighter

Steps:
Add the beads to your elastic in a pattern.
Tie your elastic in a triple knot when you are finished beading your elastic.
Cut the excess elastic.
Tie a bow over the knot with your satin ribbon.
Cut & heat seal the ends of your ribbon.

Now, you have your very own Vintage Inspired Necklace!

*****NEW*****

I am so excited to announce that Tutu Fairy will start doing embroidery items! Yeah, you heard me right, I got an embroidery machine! I am very excited about it. This was actually my Mother's Day present but it took me a few weeks to decide which machine I wanted to get.

Initial Shabby Star Applique
Here is one of my first embroidery attempts. Not too bad!

I had to add the name just for fun :)

Real Steel Fondant Cake

Real Steel Cake

Here is the Real Steel Cake I made a few weeks ago. I used fondant covered spaghetti for the poles and string for the rope. Those are toys on top of the cake. The cake is sprayed with silver pearl dust from Wilton. You can't tell from the picture but it's very silvery, if that's a word.

I hope you come back next Sweet Friday to see the 3 Tier Scroll Wedding Cake I created :)

What are you creating this weekend? Anything sweet?

Cascading Flower Baby Shower Cake & Cupcakes

Baby Shower Flower Cake

I had a lot of fun making this multi flower cake. I normally do not make a bunch of fondant flowers, so it was nice creating the fondant roses, carnations, & daisys.

 Close up view

I used Wilton's Pink & White Pearl Dust to make them shine

The cupcakes look so pretty. My favorite is the one in the middle.

I hope you come back next Sweet Friday to see the Real Steel Cake I created :)

Captain America Face Cake. Captian America Shield Cookies

Captain America Cake & Cookies

I made this Captain America Face Cake for a friends kid. I'm so happy how it came out. Once I finished the cake it looked like something was missing. So, last minute, I decided to get some blue food coloring mixed with lemon juice and I painted some shadows on Captain America's face.

Captain America Shield Cookies
This was my first attempt at cookies. I've never even baked a sugar cookie! For my first time baking and flooding sugar cookies I think I did pretty good.

How are you today? What sweets are you creating this weekend? Add a link in the comment section below so I can see your sweet creations :)

I hope you come back next Sweet Friday to see the Cascading Flower Cake & cupcakes I made for a baby girls baby shower :)
