The Perfect Nude Lipstick

Nude Lips

Yeah, I'm not sure what I was so scared of, but I finally wore my Well-To-Do Lipstick for the first time out of the house. I received so many compliments, so this look will be happening again.

Our Well-To-Do Lipstick makes the perfect nude lip!
I went for the Nude Lip, because I did not want to over do my look, since I went with a bold smokey eye. My smokey eye was created with this cream shadow in Skeptical, here. A little goes a long way and it will not crease like other cream shadows. It's amazing!

Selfie Saturday... Why I love Younique and small business Saturday!

 Confidence is Beautiful!

I can look back into my mid 20's and you wouldn't catch me taking a "SELFIE", but I'm proud to say I don't dread the camera any more. I embrace it and I get paid to take selfies!

I stop caring about my outer appearance simply because not many people saw it, except for my family & the people at the nearest Target. Until, Younique! Being a work-from-home Mom doesn't mean you stop taking care of yourself. I, now, do it for me! I'm the mom who wears red lips even if I have nowhere to go. It makes me feel better when  I get a glimpse at my self as I walk by a mirror. I'm somehow more productive through out the day too.

Now, I'm 30. OMG 30!! And I love taking selfies, working from home, and being able to help my family make ends meet. I want you to know, your orders mean the world to me! I appreciate you! I appreciate you coming to my blog and seeing me create cakes, tutus, crafts, & makeup looks. I appreciate you ordering from my small business. Today is small business Saturday and I appreciate your business! Thank you for always supporting me!

DIY Mirror Makeover with Metallic Glaze Paint

 Mirror Makeover

You may remember my dresser I turned into an entertainment center a few years ago. It's been my number one pinned post on Pinterest for the last 3 year. Click Here to read all about it.

Well, this mirror is from the same dresser. It's been in the garage since I found it at an estate sale. I didn't know what to do with it, until I received these beautiful turquoise windows from my parents as our new house warming gift. Did I mention we bought a house back in August?

What you need to DIY...

  • Sandpaper Block 120-150 Grit
  • Painters Tape
  • Blow Dryer (optional)
  • Windex & Paper Towels
  • Martha Living Metallic Glaze- Black Coffee
  • Wet Wash Cloth

How to distress a mirror with paint...

This is a pretty simple project for you to do. Here's the easy steps...

1.) Tape of your mirror. It's important to do this first. I didn't do this and I accidentally sanded the mirror, forever ruining a small section of it.

2.) Lightly sand your mirror. I started off with an electric sander, but I liked using my good ol' sanding block better.

3.) Over sand patches of your mirror, so places are raw. When you add the glaze it will adhere better to those places giving it a more distressed look.

4.) Use a blow dryer and clean up all the sanding dust. (Optional) Vacuum works too.

5.) Use Windex on the wood! YUP.. you read that right. It cleans it perfect, leaving no sawdust behind.

6.)With a paint brush apply an even coat of Martha Living Metallic Paint in Black Coffee. Although, the name is Black Coffee it is a dark brown with shimmer. It's beautiful. I use it every time I want to antique glaze something in our house. From Tables, to mirrors, to picture frames; It's my favorite glaze.

7.) Wait a couple minutes then wipe down the glaze with a wet rag. It will smear the glaze, showing some of the original wood through.

8.) Once that dries, with a paint brush go back and swipe more glaze on your mirror. Just any where you think it should have more color. I focus on the corners, the crevices, and the places we deep sanded.

9.) Let dry, take tape off, and hang up!

Tips on hanging a mirror...

This mirror was heavy! It was made for a dresser. It had brackets you placed in side other brackets on the dresser. We added hooks to the back of the mirror and we MEASURED!

Measure where you want to hang the mirror.
You want to know the measurement from each hook on the backside of your mirror, and from the hooks to the ceiling. Then, you want to measure the top of the mirror to the hooks.

So, if the top of the mirror to the ceiling is 10" but the hooks to the top of the mirror is 2" then you want to place a dot on your wall 12" down. Then, go across horizontally the number of inches from each hooks. Lets say that's 14". Then, you need to double check to make sure that second horizontal dot is 12" from the ceiling.

Simple enough, right? :)

I'm so in love with this section of my new home. This mirror is the perfect finishing touch to my antique turquoise windows & my sawhorse table. I can't wait to tell you all about this sawhorse table in a future post. My husband and I made it!

Pin this post for easy access for your future mirror makeover and let me know what you think in the comment section below. Thanks for stopping by :)

World Famous Deluxe Fruitcake. Collin Street Bakery Review.

Have you tried fruitcake before?

I've never had fruitcake. The stigma of fruitcake being the gift that no one wants during the Holidays is burned into my brain, but when Collin Street Bakery reaches out to you for a review you can't say no.

I know all about Collin Street Bakery. I'm from Texas. Billboards are all through the lonestar state. This place is a big deal in Texas, but I've never had the chance to go. This was my opportunity to get a taste of one of the most popular bakeries in Texas.

Shipping was fast, the fruitcake looked beautiful, and it arrived in this cute keepsake tin.

I had no clue I was about to slice into a World Famous Cake. Collin Street Bakery has shipped cakes to 196 countries around the world. That's impressive!

So what did I think about the taste?

It was great! The pecans was my favorite part. I wished I had a pecan in every bite! I can only describe it as tasting similar to a banana nut bread with fruit and pecans. This fruitcake included pineapple, papaya, red cherries, honey, raisins and topped with the pecans. It was delicious!

I should have read the guide before cutting the fruitcake. We dove right in, but I was suppose to cut with the foil still intact. Then, take the foil off for the perfect slice.

What did my family think of Collin Street Bakery's Fruitcake?

Can you tell from this picture? Madison and Daniel LOVE IT! Jax wasn't a fan, but 3 out of 4 is great! We will be ordering this Famous Fruitcake in the future and I, now, know they have CHEESECAKE!

If their cheesecake is half as good as their fruitcake then I'm a customer for life! Yum... Cheesecake!

In all honesty, would I buy this fruitcake with my own money?

Yes! I plan on ordering one for Christmas! It will be a great snack for my extended family to eat while the food is cooking.

I'm grateful I was able to do this review. I have a love for fruitcake now, that I didn't know I had. If you're looking for a World Famous Fruitcake for the Holiday's (or any occasion) then you should order one from Collin Street Bakery.

You will really appreciate the quality of Collin Street Bakery.

Chip & Joanna Gaines' Magnolia Market in Waco, Texas. All about my trip!

Magnolia Market

You have no idea how excited I am to share with you our trip to Magnolia Market in Waco, Texas. If you've seen the HGTV hit show 'Fixer Upper' then you know who Chip & Joanna Gaines are. They are the dynamic duo who renovates old homes into a rustic, one-of-a-kind, masterpiece. I dream of Joanna coming to 'Fixer Upper' my home to an angelic farmhouse. I'm sure most of us women do.

Waco is a little over an hour from our house. We arrived at the orginal Magnolia Market location. In all honesty, I had no idea they moved.

I freaked out a bit when this location was closed, until I saw the "We Moved" sign. Whew... this was a close one. My husband wouldn't have let me hear the end of it if they were closed for the day. I'm notorious for sending us places when they're not open lol.

The Grand Opening of Magnolia Market in Waco, Texas...

How did we get so lucky? It was the GRAND OPENING! Since this was on our 12 year anniversary and we, somehow, managed to come during the Grand Opening it felt very special.

Look at the Grand Opening picture above. Do you see the sliding doors to the right? That's the entrance. I love barn sliding doors!

We didn't stay for all this, but it sure sounds fun. #silobration... how clever!

The store was everything you imagine it would be. It's like one of her house creations on overload.

A few things I loved included the black/white sign, chalk board w/ basket, metal magaize rack, 'Merry Christmas' sign, and that metal chair. I need that chair!

This was in front of you at checkout. I had to snap a photo.

Silos! Rustic and perfect for Joanna. This was her dream and she made it a reality.

We didn't eat at the food trucks, but they're this way <------ p="">

Daniel and I had a great day at the Magnolia Market Silos & a great anniversary.

I bet you're wondering what we bought...

I tried to stay under a hundred dollars. The prices are more expensive than what you can find at Hobby Lobby, but it's all about the experience and the story behind it. I couldn't have left empty handed. The items I bought was priced just right...

Wooden Lantern- $45
Black Metal Picking Basket - $16
4 Cotton Stems - $9 each

Once I got home I placed one of the cotton stems inside the lantern. I wished I bought one more wooden lantern. I want a large lantern, so this one isn't sitting alone. Maybe, one or two more picking baskets too.

I see another trip in our future. Real soon!

Have you visited Magnolia Market yet? I'd love to hear what you bought.

The Best Full Coverage Liquid Foundation. Can your makeup do this?

I had to make my own video! This liquid foundation is too good not to share with my blogger friends. I promise you; you want this full coverage foundation in your life!

I mustache you a question...

Will our Liquid Foundation cover up my MOVEMBER mustache?

The things I will do for my customers. If our Liquid Foundation can cover up this marker mustache with our Powder Puff Brush, imagine what it can do for your uneven skin and dark circles.

You have to watch this video and see for yourself...

What I love most about our PHOTOSHOP in a BOTTLE is a little goes a long way. It's not cakey & it's liquid thin. You only need 4-6 drops of our Mineral Touch Liquid Foundation for the whole face! It dries in a matte powder finish, but I still top it off with our Pressed Powder for extra coverage.

How to color match for Younique's Mineral Makeup...

Don't stress too much about this picture. It's just a guide. I tan pretty well, but I also BURN! I can wear Velour & Taffeta just fine. I'm wearing Velour in my video above.

Let me know how I can help you.

Caprese Salad Recipe

Caprese Salad Recipe

This Caprese Salad looks too pretty to eat!

However, here's the recipe to the easiest salad ever.

Caprese Salad
  • Mozzarella Cheese (sliced)
  • Tomatoes (sliced)
  • Basil Leaves (washed & patted dry)
  • Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Balsamic Vinegar Glaze

Tip: buy a Balsamic Vinegar Glaze to avoid reducing balsamic vinegar. It will make this caprese salad quick and easy.

Cut and toss any way you like or layer the mozzarella, tomatoes, & basil in a shallow dish/plate. Drizzle some olive oil & balsamic vinegar. Then, top it off with salt & pepper to taste. Can't get any easier than that.

Halloween Birthday Party Ideas with dry ice

Halloween Birthday Bash for Kids

Who doesn't love a good Halloween bash? I sure do! So,  I just about died, with excitement, when my son suggested a Halloween Birthday Party.

Check out his Halloween Party made perfect for kids...

The finger food table was decorated with Halloween decor I pulled from the garage. Use what you already have!

Dollar Tree had cute Halloween decorations including the wood signs (Glitter Skulls & the middle sign) for $1 each. Check out your local Dollar Tree to stay on the cheap.

Halloween Finger Food Ideas
White Cheetos: Bag of Bones
Carrots: Witches Fingers
White Chocolate Covered Pretzels: Bones
Homemade Cake Pops: Halloween Sprinkles & Eyeballs

Meat Head
I had just enough ham in my fridge to pull apart and place over this plastic skull head. It was the perfect creepy center piece for the cheese, meat, & cracker plate. His eyes are Wilton's Halloween Gummies.

On this table we, also, had Sweet Meat Balls (click here to find the recipe) & pizza. Sorry there is no picture. The pizza came in late.

Band-Aid Crackers
Nothing like a good ol' bloody band-aid to snack on.
Graham Crackers with white icing & red gel icing. Just use your finger to dab the red gel icing, so it's nice and bloody. These were so good! I couldn't stop eating them.

Sweet Treats
I made these Halloween cake balls from trimmings of his Halloween birthday cake. The kids had a blast creating the cookies.

Witches Hat Cookies
  • Flip over a Keebler Fudge Stripe cookie
  • Trace the hole with Orange Frosting
  • Top off with a Hershey's Kiss

Skull Cookies
  • Oreo with a dab of frosting
  • Place a Wilton Icing Decor on top

These cookies are a great way for the kids to get involved. I do the Oreo cookies every year. You can find any party theme.

My entry console table ended up being the perfect spot for the cake. The Halloween monster punch was easily accessible & the goody bags was ready to grab as the guest left.

More about the Cake

Y'all know how I feel about cake. Your party cake should be the center of the party. No one had to search for the Halloween cake. It was there when they walked in.

I wanted this Witch Cauldron Cake to be easy, but incredible. I asked my son what he thought the Witches Brew Cauldron Cake should have in it. Jax wanted bones, eyeballs, octopus legs, zombie hands & a witch.

He even came up with a story on how the witch was cooking her brew and accidentally fell in. You gotta love the imagination of a six-year-old.

To learn more about my Halloween Dry Ice Witches Cauldron Cake click here. Wow.. say that 6 times fast!

More about the Monster Punch

For the Halloween Monster Punch with Dry Ice I kept it simple.

Dry Ice Monster Punch
  • Witches Cauldron (Walmart)
  • Dry Ice (Brookshires)
  • 2 liter Ginger Ale
  • 1  1/4 Cup Sugar
  • 4 packets Strawberry Kiwi Koolaid
  • 2 quarts water
  • 2 (46 ounce) Pineapple juice

You can cut this punch recipe in half, but I needed enough to fill up this big witches cauldron.

Halloween Mystery Boxes
Halloween Sensory Games for the kids are a blast, but some of the 5 year olds didn't want to put their hands in a box full of scary stuff.

To make this box I used a wreath box (any box will work), purple & orange felt, craft glue, tissue paper, and googly eyes.

Elf Ears - Dried Apricots
Witches Tongues - Sliced Pickles
Monster Teeth - Corn Kernels & Almonds
Zombie Eyes - Peeled Grapes (great for kids to do)
Vampire Brains - Cooked Noodles w/ black food coloring

How to Peel Grapes?
  • Boil water & have a bowl of ice water near by
  • Put grapes in metal strainer. Dip in boiling water for 10sec
  • Dip the grapes in ice water to chill
  • Puncture the skin of the grape with a knife
  • Have the kids sit at the table and peel the grapes

Halloween Costumes
On your invitation mention it's a costume party!

Pirate, Princesses & Super Heroes Too!
It's a costume party & we're inviting you!

Jax had a great 6th Birthday. He is growing in to a sweet and caring gentleman, just like his daddy. I am one proud Mommy. Do you remember his 1st cowboy birthday? I'll never forget :)

My one regret. I usually get a family picture or a picture with me & the birthday boy, but this time I didn't. I don't know how I forgot. I regret being behind the camera the entire time & not in front of it.

Thank you for following along! Let me know if you have any questions? What's your favorite thing about this Halloween Birthday Party? What would you add to your kids Halloween Bash? I'd love to know.
