Kids Firefighter and Dalmatian Costumes. DIY Firefighter Costume.

Firefighter & Damatian Halloween Costumes

This Halloween my daughter wanted to be a Hot Pink Dalmatian. I took my Dalmatian Tutu Costume (from Tutu Fairy) and turned it into this Deluxe Hot Pink Dalmatian Costume.

I wanted to do their costumes in a theme this year, so Jaxson was a Firefighter!

Hot Pink Deluxe Dalmatian Tutu Costume

White Tutu Dress with Black Dots and Hot Pink Ribbon, Hot Pink Braided Sash, Arm Warmers, Clip on Ears and Tail, and Detachable Name Bone.

For Jaxson's Firefighter costume I made a Firefighter Applique Shirt, Red Suspenders, and I added Yellow and Silver Duct Tape to a pair of black pants. He had a firefighter hat, but refused to wear it.

This is by far the best part of my job! I love creating special items for little girls and when I get a photo it TOTALLY makes my day :)

I'm thinking about writing an ebook on tips and tricks for the perfect tutu. I just do not know if anyone would be interested.

Halloween 2010

Halloween 2010
We had a great Halloween! Our weekend was filled with fun activities for the kids. Saturday we took the kids to a Halloween Carnival with bounce houses, face painting, popcorn, balloon animals and more.

Sunday, we went to two pumpkin patches, picked out our pumpkins, painted them, went trick-or-treating, and a haunted house.

Here are some pictures of the kiddos all dressed up for Halloween...
Madison, Daddy, and Jaxson on Halloween 2010

Madison decided to be a beautiful Ladybug.

Madison is growing up so fast! I love looking at pictures from her first Halloween to now. Takes my breath away :)

Ladybug Wings

Jaxson was a monkey because of this face! It's his monkey face that he started doing a few months ago.

Kids Halloween Crafts

We do not carve pumpkins in our house because both kids are still so young and because I do not handle knives well. When Daniel and I was 16, we carved a pumpkin and I was using a knife and it went straight through my thumb. It hurt so bad and there was so much blood. My Dad had to grab my thumb just to make sure it was still there. Since that day, I have never carved a pumpkin.

We asked Madison if she wanted to carve pumpkins or paint pumpkins and, thankfully, she said paint. I love pumpkin painting!

You may remember my post, The Perfect Pumpkin, from last year. This year we did things a tad bit different....

Painting pumpkins is very kid friendly, but adult supervision is required when using spray paint and hot gluing items to your pumpkin.

Madison wanted me to spray paint the pumpkin solid black. She started the spray painting and I finished it.

She told me where to place the orange spiders and I hot glued them in place.

Glitter Pumpkins....
100% Kid Friendly

Madison Mod Podged the pumpkin...

Then covered the pumpkin in Red Glitter.
Then we added some spiders to the pumpkins for a one-of-a-kind creation from Madison Dae :)

She loved that fact that they look like tiny apples!

Now, go get your Mod Podge on!

 Great Halloween Decorations

Tip:
  • Go to the stores the day after Halloween and stock up. Prices will be 50% or more off.
  • FYI - This does not include Halloween stores. They just box everything up for next year, but Target and Walmart have to get rid of everything asap.

Dead Nurse

Mad Scientist Lab
Tip:
  • Glass jars filled with water and some food coloring.
  • Test Tubes
  • Dry Ice

Butcher Table

Tip: Home made blood...
•1 c. Karo Syrup

•1 Tbsp Water

•2 Tbsp Red Food Coloring

•1 tsp Yellow Food Coloring

None of these characters said a word which increased the fear factor.

Great accesories that never get old with Halloween....

I hope this gave you some great ideas for your Haunted House next Halloween :)

Chocolate Covered Halloween Strawberries

Chocolate Covered Halloween Strawberries

Today, I want to show you some Chocolate Covered Strawberries that are all dressed up for Halloween 2010!

Tip: Rinse off the strawberries and let them air dry for a few hours. Water will ruin your melted chocolate.

Depending on the colors I need I will use white, dark, milk chocolate and/or Wilton's Candy Melts in the color I want.

You can read the back of your chocolate or candy melts for directions. I melt my candy in the microwave.

My Bat is dipped in Wilton's Lavendar Candy Melts and the ears, eyes, nose, fangs and wings are made out of fondant.

Frankenstien is my favorite! He is dipped in Wilton's Green Candy Melts.
His face is made out of Fondant.

The Mummy is dipped in white chocolate and covered with white fondant strips.

Mr. Pumpkin is covered in Wilton's Orange Candy Melts and I used a toothpick to make some vertical lines before the candy hardened. His face is fondant.

All dressed up for Halloween 2010!

Hope you enjoyed looking at my strawberries! My family sure loved eating them :}
